Did you know that recently, just before Thanksgiving, the United Kingdom celebrated No Music Day? What a great idea. Just imagine an entire day during which we are not inundated with the background “noise pollution” often called “music”. Peace and quiet. Silence truly is golden.

My favorite shopping mall, where I sometimes walk for exercise and often socialize with friends, insists they MUST have overhead music or people will no longer shop there, or at least buy lots less, ah, er, stuff. Are they right? I seriously doubt it! I’d (almost) kill to find a quiet place to shop (and walk, and socialize). Alas, there are no No Music Days in the good old noisy and annoying USA.
